Join the folks at Vibrant Uptown as we begin a series of traffic safety audits around Uptown.
It’s no secret that the lack of cisible enforcement of traffic laws has led drivers to believe there are no consequesnces to ignoring traffic laws and creating an unsafe environment for driving, walking, biking or just being out on the streets of our neighborhoods.
We intend to present our data regarding stop sign, traffic light, right on red pedestrian crosswalk running , speeding and other clear violations to SDPD and the City Council to insist on at least a minimum of visible enforcement. Until people learn that they ARE being watched, they will continue to make our streets unsafe.
We will monitor, photograph and record drivers in violation of traffic laws and will create a “Wall of Shame” to publicly call them out. Come out and join us!
Safety Survey
The following results reflect the unsafe behavior observed during the audit period. The Wall of Shame contains photo and video evidence of the worst of these offenders. The intent is to highlight what is not captured in current statistics which are focused on the result rather than the causal behavior, namely injury and death. Our intent is to shine a light on the unsafe behavior that causes injuries to pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and property BEFORE the injuries occur in the hope that SDPD will start high visibility enforcement to highlight that there ARE consequences to bad behavior.
